Anyone use the MacBook repair sites off Ebay? I have a MacBook Air that will boot up then dies, no abuse, yes I have reset everything and replaced the battery. Still the same..I don't want to sped a lot repairing it but would like to get my data off it..

Not sure I'd trust them with my data!

But please tell me you have a backup? If not why not? Memory is dirt cheap these days.

Couldn't you pull the hard drive and connect it to another machine in a caddy? Might be safer.

I have a old backup on Time Machine, but need newer data from it..

Apple doesn't like standards, so you will be hard pressed to find an external case with the M2 or whatever connection style Apple uses. With standard SATA it would be easy as 3.14.
