Does anyone know if the base MacBook Air would be able to run Ableton Live stable enough to perform live dj sets?

it would probably be powerful enough, but you'd be better off using a mb or mbp for the firewire ports. You probably want to use a FireWire audio interface since the audio out on the mba isn't as good quality, and a USB interface can have latency issues.
