Hello folks,

My wife got me a MacBook Air 5 days ago at her college with a book advance credit she had available, and so I was wondering would their be any possibility Apple Store would give me a store credit for the value of the MacBook Air? Reason is I can't return it to the book store because
1) they don't carry the new MacBook Pro I've always wanted and
2) at this point if she returns it to the book store she would lose her book advance money because it was only available until 5 days ago.
So I don't want for apple to return me any monies, just a store credit for the value of the laptop so I may pay the difference for the MacBook Pro . I also want to mention it's sealed and unopened. What do you guys think would it be possible?

Thanks !

Call Apple and find out what's possible?

Take it to the Apple Store and tell them you got it as a gift from a family member. All they can say is no. You aren't attempting to do anything fraudulent. All of these MacBooks come from Apple and they control their retail channels very well.

My mom bought an Apple Smart Keyboard for my wife for Christmas but purchased the 9.7 instead of the 12.9. I'm almost certain that she purchased it at Best Buy. Best Buy didn't have any 12.9 in stock so I took it to the Apple Store. I told them that we received it for Christmas, but it was the wrong size. The lady exchanged it with no questions asked and I paid the difference to go to the 12.9 keyboard. Their policy may be different on actual machines but for accessories, they do it.
