Does anyone know how much the macbook air charger weighs? I am thinking about getting one for the office and one at school as well.

This is based on the AU 45W replacement supply.

Brick - 5.5oz (158g)
Cord with integrated AU plug - 5.9oz (170g)
Just the AU plug (goes on brick) - 0.9oz 27g

All up 12.5oz (356g)

thats like 3/4 lb, is it worth it to get 2 extra chargers? One for the office and one for at my school locker? and the original one to leave at home?

Its meant to be like the MBA itself.

ie; Light and portable.

Ive not actually weighed mine but i assure you its negligible !

Is it worth getting multiple chargers !

Well if you have the disposable income and dont want to bundle the cable with the MBA when on the move then why not.

My own policy is to only use original chargers.

I can only speak for the price in AU, but the spare MBA chargers are $89.00 here, they are the same price as the other chargers i.e. the 65W and 85W chargers.

If you just take the brick and little power connector and forget the big cord then you are talking less than 1/2 a pound.

So is carrying that 1/2 an lb less between the office and home worth the extra $$ to purchase a second one :)

Genuine Original Apple Part A1244 with 90 Days Warranty
This could be the old charger for the first or second generation MBA...
The part number for the recent MBA charger is A1374, at least here in Germany, the corresponding replacement part (charger + cable) from Apple is MC747(xx/x).

So would this work with the new MBA?

It should work fine.
The MagSafe connector hasn't changed and the adapter delivers the 45W the MBA needs...

Those chargers are refurbished models so you only get a warranty of 90 days and they will have signs of usage.
That's why I wouldn't buy on there.

I bought a back-up 65W charger off ebay for my MBP - an Apple one from some pseudo-shady retailer like that one. I needed one with the old type of MagSafe adaptor to work in a HengeDock, which I ended up returning anyway (neat product, but didn't fit a digital audio plug). I've used it with the MBA without issue.

I'm not exactly sure what they could do to "refurb" a charger (wipe it clean?). I'm not opposed to buying used if its a genuine Apple product and I save myself 50% of the cost of a new one. Having an extra charger is nice...

you can use a 65W magsafe with the MBA? DOes it charge it faster?

I've been toying with picking up a second charger, but man are they over priced.
