That charger that you found on eBay is a genuine Apple part, and it will work fine. It is the design that came with the older Airs. I have one for with my 2009 Air, and it works just as well as any other Magsafe adapter.

I'm not exactly sure what they could do to "refurb" a charger (wipe it clean?). I'm not opposed to buying used if its a genuine Apple product and I save myself 50% of the cost of a new one. Having an extra charger is nice...

I just got the one from eBay, and it sure looks genuine. The connector is the one for the previous model Air, but it works perfectly fine. The charger was clean, looked almost new, and even the little prong piece still had the plastic wrapper on it.

For 50% off the price of a new one I can recommend the eBay one. :)

thats like 3/4 lb, is it worth it to get 2 extra chargers? One for the office and one for at my school locker? and the original one to leave at home?

I bought a 2nd one and went with the larger MBP charger. That's the one I leave at home (since it's bigger) I went with the BMP charger because the price was the same and having more capacity is never a bad thing and since I don't carry it around, the extra mass isn't a concern.
