Macbook air charging problems!

Hey there, I have a mid 2011 macbook air with a very odd problem. The computer works fine, but when I decide to charge it with the battery connected nothing happens, no green or orange LED. Then I disconnect the battery, plug it in and after about 5 mins the green light comes on, I plug my battery in and all is good until I need to charge again...

anybody ever had this problem? if so what did you do to fix it besides sending it into apple?😱
