Come on, a wedge-like form factor? This is something I would expect from any other PC manufacturer but from Apple?

As great as it would be to own one of these, I'll wait until these are found in it:

• Multi-touch screen
• Flat form factor
• More than just a USB port for I/O
• Priced below $1200

You know, Apple proved me wrong; I once said that there is no way in hell an angled (wedge-like) can be beautiful, and to my surprise Apple did it. My dad's vaio is lightly angled and looks awful because of its increasing thickness. The MacBook Air is angled very neatly and looks very nice. Now, don't label me fanboy and sh*t, its not because its Apple that is nice, Apple did what I thought couldn't be done: make an angled (wedge-like) notebook appealing.

I got my MBA w/ a student discount, ended up being around 130$ off which was not too shabby. I agree though, ultra-slim notebooks are usually expensive. I guess the only time people might go for the MBA is when it is on display at the Apple Stores.

Did you buy through your school? When I checked Apple's EDU store the price was only $100 off (unless you're outside of the US).

The wedge shape is nice, and also a necessity... they could not have kept it that thin at the front and the back for two reasons;

1. Strength, imagine how many people would be filing for snapped laptops.
2. Fitting in the hard drive, circuit board etc.

Apple are also trying to educate with this one (apart from supplying to the mobile pros who need such a device). I think the initial message here is desktop (iMac or MacPro) at home, MB Air for out-and-about. Over the next few months I think we will also see many ways of syncing, and getting the most from the MBA.

It just doesn’t sit with Apple’s (Ive’s?) current design sensibilities
