Hello,
My Macbook air is running low on disk space. Frequently I attach an external ssd and transfer big files to it. At this point i have about 11gb of free disk space available. Currently I only have Chrome, Safari and activity monitor open. When i open a finder window i keep seeing my disk space decrease. I ran a malware scanner but it found nothing. I'm wonder if this is common and what steps i need to take to fix this.

Thank you

You can use something like DaisyDisk or similar to visualize your storage and see where it’s going.

You really need something like DaisyDisk. I had the same problem and it turned out one app I owned had written 200gb of log files to disk.
