MacBook Air doesn’t read MacBook Pro as Extended Display

Hey people,

I hope my message finds you well.

I have an M1 MacBook Air and a 2016 MacBook Pro.

The MBA can be used as extended display from MBP however, when I try to do the same with MBA, it only allows me to use MBP with keyboard and mouse, not extended display.

Anyone can help please? My MBP is too old and doesn’t make sense to use MBA as a screen. I’m trying to do the opposite.

Through the Display Settings. I've attached two images one for MacBook Air and one for the Pro.

Through the Display Settings.

AirPlay-to-Mac requires the 2016 MacBook Pro to act as an AirPlay receiver. Is that enabled in System Preferences > Sharing? The system requirements say a 2018 or later MBP is required for it to work at full resolution.
