I have recently bought a Macbook air 2014 with a broken motherboard connector for the battery which i have replaced.

After replacing, it all worked fine until i powered it off and it would not turn on again. When the magsafe is plugged in it turns on just fine and the magsafe shows an orange light, but the battery isn't recognised at all, only occasionally, if i get lucky, it might boot up from the battery.

So far i have done a smc and pram reset.

2 things
-tape the battery down with UL electrical tape to the mother board, they seem to move at times
-any orange light indicates your macbook air is reading a battery, so it knows its there.

did you see the battery indicator icon on the top menu screen?
there is also a conditioning that is recommended for new batteries- if this the case.

you can also keep your macbook on all the time in power settings-
since the drive is a ssd- its still safe and will sleep and wake up when open.

i hoped this helped!

Why do you mean by "tape to motherboard"?

There is no battery symbol anywhere.

Also, i had an orange light with no battery inside.

-sometimes the battery connector pops up- a piece of tape will keep that down

-look 3 icons from the time on the upper tool bar- or check system presences to make sure that is visible.

-that is strange, since that indicates the battery is being charged, is this your first MacBook,
and did you fix -replace the logic board yourself?

I had someone else replace it for me (third party repair shop)

i tried many thing but now it wont even power or give any sign of it recognising the battery

the only solution is to return the MacBook to them explaining they did not fix that properly.
