My MBA arrives tomorrow and I plan to use my 24" LG 1920x1200 monitor and also my 40 Sony HDTV for presentations. Both connected through HDMI
I'm also reading about how the ipad through wifi for external display works. Because if the new ipad has a higher resolution then it would be pretty cool and work well depending on your intended use. all I really plan to use it for is all the tool palettes while I'm working in certain programs..

The Dell Ultra Sharp range has Display Port. I've just taken delivery of the new 24" (1920 x 1200) model: U2412M. Very, very nice IPS monitor for $399AU. Just waiting for a mini DP to DP cable, then I can hook up my Air simultaneously with my Win 27 desktop and switch between the two.

As the 2nd replied works with most monitors as long as you have the mini display port adapter for your connection ie Mini DP to VGA is what I use and it connects straight into the thunderbolt port. Works ok

I'm using a Gateway 23in off my MBA as I type this... It's a $30 adapter from Apple to take the thunderbolt data and transform it to work with other common video cables.

The VGA/DVI adapter from Apple is seriously overpriced. 😉
