MacBook Air freezing then unfreezing?

    Ok it's what I would have randomly when running long HD films if the Air was running hot.

    Now though it'll progressively get worse during the day to the point where it'll freeze (no mouse, no activity on the screen) for like 10 seconds then unfreeze and freeze up again within 20 seconds.

    Does this happen to anyone here?

    Yeah..its called core shutdown.

    It's been happening to me a lot lately. It usually happens to me while using Parallels, or watching videos. Hopefully Apple will release a fix for this issue, it's getting really annoying.

    Core shutdowns come from overheating of the machine (primarily caused by overworking the CPU, though other causes exist too).

    There are *lots* of threads here about overheating and things you can do about it. Some of them are pretty effective.

    Personally, I used the Coolbook solution (www.coolbook.se) and have been very pleased.
