I restarted my macbook air after an app wouldn’t quit, and ever since then, whenever I try to turn on the computer, code pops onto the screen.

Basically, this: I power off the computer. I power it on. The apple sign appears. The computer prompts me to enter my password (as usual). I enter my password, and the computer starts to turn on. But about halfway through, code comes on screen that basically says launchd died. It looks almost identical to the code in this picture:

I’ve gone into Single User Mode and run fsck -fy. It says my computer is fine.

I’ve also run disc utility and it says my hard drive is fine.

Basically, I have no idea what to do since I have no idea what is wrong.

There's a related thread here about the same issue on a MacBook Pro. Check it out for ideas. You might very well have the same issue.
