My new laptop is fast and working well but the battery is showing " Using Significant energy". I am using Firefox as my default browser. Any ideas what to check , to reduce this. Maybe Firefox is the issue, so would exporting my bookmarks over to Safari and use that as browser help much. I have just gotten use to Firefox over the years but could go back to Safari if it helps. Activity monitor doesn't show anything out of the norm.

Also a Firefox user. Have seen this. Anytime I open Activity Monitor>Energy tab I see the usual suspects: Spotlight and Adobe. If Firefox shows up, did once, it very quickly goes away. I don’t associate the message with Firefox. Instead Apple and Adobe which have a history of placing high demands for routines with low returns.

I see Using Significant Energy regularly in safari for a tab I keep open for Yahoo Mail. So it might be dependent on the sites you're visiting and way to find out is by experimenting.

Is battery performance not meeting your expectations, or are you just focusing on the “using significant energy” info?

Anytime I’m using the M1 Air there’s probably an app or two using significant energy, but I’ve no complaints about battery life.

I am a newbie with this MacBook Air M1 so yes "I was just on the “using significant energy” info. It is fast and works great so I will simply carryon and ignore it. Thank for post back.
