Mine is clamped behind my Studio Display. IDK if that's a good thing, but it felt the most convient way for me to have more room on my desk and not fall off lol

Is there a way to connect to an external display and just use that display without closing the MBA lid aka clamshell mode…?

I know I did that with my 2010 MBP by placing a magnet on the left side below the speaker grill to simulate clamshell mode… but often times I have to remind myself not to close the lid with the magnet on it and accidentally crack the glass screen.

i think you can use both screens at same time if you open the lid

That's what I'm trying to prevent... I just want to use the external display only but without having to close the lid for better heat dissipation...
