Hey everyone,
Just got a new MacBook Air M5 and noticed I can slightly feel the seam where the bottom plate meets the chassis — specifically along the front edge (trackpad side). It’s not sharp or dramatic, just a subtle ridge you can detect if you run a finger along it.

1. Can you feel the seam on your unit M5/M4, and if so — where exactly? Front edge, sides, or all around?
2. Would you describe it as a minor ridge you only notice when looking for it, or does it actually catch your finger during normal use?
3. Did anyone try returning/exchanging for this reason — and did the replacement turn out better or the same?
4. Has anyone had Apple replace just the bottom cover under warranty for this?
Not looking to start a panic — just want to understand the real range of variation out there before deciding whether to exchange or just live with it.
Thanks!

During normal use my fingertips is placed on the keyboard. Cant feel the bottom at all.

I would say - you’re holding it wrong.

Thanks for the reply! To clarify — I’m not talking about during typing. I mean when picking it up, sliding a hand under it, or just running a finger along the edge. That’s when the seam between the bottom plate and the chassis is noticeable. Does yours feel completely flush in that scenario too?

Mine feels completely flush to me. Like the other poster, this is the first time I have ever checked with the M5, or with the M2 I bought 4 years ago that the M5 replaced.

I wouldn't trade mine in for this reason if it was not flush, unless it was a huge gap or something.

It's not completely flush on the front. I can feel an edge. It is completely flush on the sides. During normal use not noticeable and also not visible to the eye. Not a huge problem.

I can feel the seam in the front on mine. It's a brand new M5 13" Air. Barely noticeable, but not completely flush. Not an issue for me. Its consistent on the front and both sides.

I can feel a seam on all the sides, but it's barely noticeable. I didn't notice until I read your post.
