As people would be familiar here, Macbooks in recent years have had a significant upgrade in battery life, and I'm here wondering if there's anyway for us using older Macbooks to get in on that some how.

My question is can I put a battery from a 2014 model Macbook Air 13inch into my current 2011 model?

I am aware that the extended battery life in the newer models are in no way solely attributed to the new battery, however if I can get a couple more hours out of a battery upgrade I feel its something worth trying. To be honest I am very happy with my current air and besides the rather lacking battery life there is no reason for me to upgrade to a newer model.

Thanks to anyone who can weigh in on this.

The right battery for your 2011 MBA 13" is the Model A1405 - Power Rating: 6700 mAh

The battery A1496 - Powwer Rating 7150 mAh is compatible with all 1.3 or 1.7 GHz (Mid 2013), 1.4 or 1.7 GHz (Early 2014), and 1.6 GHz or 2.2 GHz (Early 2015) 13" MacBook Airs, and backward compatible with 1.8 or 2.0 GHz (Mid 2012) 13" MacBook Airs.
