Hi,
I have. A mid 2012 base model MacBook Air (4gb ram, 128 Sid, 1.7ghz core i5). My daughter was using this for UNI but has now gone IPad only, so its been returned to me. I think it was on Catalina but i cant remember for sure. I wiped it and now its running High Sierra, and it seems fine for the basic needs I have for it.
What I’m looking a bit of help with is, should I update it to Catalina? It was running terrible when my daughter had it, slow ands stuttery. I’m not sure if this was because the OS was too much for the air or if was due to all the crap my daughter had on it. Any advice would be gratefully received
Thanks,
BOOGIEDOUT

How about taking a backup, upgrading to Catalina and going back if it does not work well?

Also Mojave is a good option.
