I understand :) I guess it was an alternative to forking out $2-300 previously for the full package every few years and no different to how many especially in the US buy (lease, rent) their phones
Yeah that makes sense. You use Windows though right? Kinda forces you towards MS Office. I use OS X with free updates to Pages and Numbers.
Never had a problem with office on MAC - other than the "ignore" button being missing in outlook.
MBA to rMB, well worth the upgrade.
Yeah I haven't necessarily had any problems with MS Office. Just refuse to rent software and I think Pages and Numbers are better designed plus they're free. I switched to Libre Office as soon as MS Office went subscription. Then when I switched to Mac 4 years ago, I started using Pages and Numbers. Obviously, just personal opinion, I know not everyone feels this way.

Thank you all for the time and precious comments. After your thoughts and some more research, I decided to go with the new MacBook driving my decision solely on the Retina Display. I'll probably buy it mid July so I hope any new version to be announced at the 2016 WWDC will be available until then.
The rumor is that the MacBook Pro won't be upgraded until Q4. The 12" MacBook was just updated so it will be the same version available in July.

Went from 2011 Macbook air to 2015 Macbook,

so seems like an equal gap,

long story short: yes, well worth it
