Hi all
My neighbor has given me his daughters macbook air that hes having trouble with

It basically wont boot whatsoever - nothing

Ive disconnected the battery and then tried holding power down for 10 seconds when the power adapter is unplugged and then another 10seconds when its plugged back in (without releasing power)

The fans then start up but there still no boot up at all -just the fans going at full pelt

So Ive also tried a SMC and PRAM reset but then nothing happens at all with those

There is a light on the charging cable which is orange and intermittently green

I think its a 2013 macbook air too
Anyone have any other things to try or is it a apple repair job

Thanks for any advice

Disconnect the battery, connect the charger, don't touch anything, and see if it powers up on its own.

If the above didn't work, try the same thing but disconnect the trackpad, and try again.

Thanks
Did both of these - nothing at the moment - all Im getting is fan noise :)
Disconnected trackpad too and tried boot - just fan noise

I dont know - he didnt mention anything but will ask the question

Powering up and having the fans run at full speed indicates to me that there is something wrong with the heat sensors on the logic board or trackpad. If the firmware senses a fault when powering up, they default to running the fans at full speed as a safety precaution even if there is no danger of overheating.

Are all moisture indicators still white? Any signs of liquid residue?

Everything appears OK found some of those indicators - all white

Did you remove the logic board to examine the other side?

When liquid spills happen, the liquid will sometimes leak through to the logic board but you can't see the liquid residue unless you remove the logic board from the casing.

No I didnt - probably wont go that far too - only having a look as a favor - will give back for him to take for a proper repair - Ive done as much as I can - thanks though

My MBAir will not power on unless i tap a small screwdriver on 2 silver dots below the keyboard ribbon on the logic board for a couple of seconds, see if that should fire up the macbook air.

Are you sure the buttons are near the keyboard ribbon in a 2013 Air? I thought the keyboard ribbon connects to the trackpad and the buttons are near the wi-fi card.

its worth a try?
