macbook air now, or when bigger ssd?

I am on the fence for a macbook air to augment my MBP.
Right now I am on a 2.4 MBP 4GB/500GB. I want to save weight and could live with a 256MB disk. But 128 is just not enough.
Any guesses on that happening soon? Or any upgrades that work?
