MacBook Air - OK to purchase 1st gen or avoid?

ewhite, congrats on your new MacBook Air. Have you setup remote desktop on it yet? I am very interested on the performance.

I want to bootcamp into Windows, then remote desktop to windows pc at work. Just wondering what performance would be like.

That is completely unnecessary if you take a look at this: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/remote-desktop/default.mspx 😉 works like a charm... I use it on a regular basis myself and performance is good (using the machine in my sig) as long as your internet connection is fine 😉
