I have been thinking about getting an Apple TV when the 3rd one is released and was wondering how well Apple TV functions with Air display.

I was curious to see if I could turn on the air display then put my air in clamshell mode and use a bluetooth mouse/keyboard to operate the computer.

Please let me know if you have an apple TV and you use this setup!

    thanks :]

I am assuming you mean the recently announced AirPlay display mirroring feature of Mountain Lion? I don't think enough people have tried it or played with it to know, certainly nobody is using in their day-to-day setups.

Just a guess: correct me, anyone, if I'm wrong; I don't think AirPlay display mirroring will work in clamshell mode. From what I can tell of the ML previews it looks like you need to use the main display to activate airplay every time, and I'm guessing closing the laptop screen after that would put it to sleep and turn off airplay.

That's what I was wondering. Hopefully we will still be able to use the Airplay mirroring with our MacBooks closed.

Mountain Lion is only a few days old. I own a Macbook Air and an Apple TV which I barely bother to use. If I was able to get a copy of Mountain Lion and try it out, I would.

I have used an iPhone 4s with the Apple TV and it had a little bit of lag on my dual band 300n network.
