Hey guys, forum and Apple newbie here!

I have a pretty new MacBook Air and the password has suddenly stopped working. When I first turn it on the password doesn't work, however if I hold the power button and do a hard reboot the password works fine. Now a little clue might be that when I first turn it on, I notice there is a apple symbol in the top left corner but when I refresh the symbol isn't there. Also when I reboot it says british keyboard in the top right. Not sure if that helps.

I'm 100% sure the password is correct and I haven't been typing it in caps by accident. I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!
