I have a 2018 MacBook Air ( Retina, 13-inch, 2018)

I have been running Brave browser for several months now with no problems. However, within the past few days i have noticed an temp increase (195-205 F) while streaming youtube videos. It does not appear to do this while using safari.

If any one has any insights on this topic id love to hear. I really did enjoy brave as a browser.

Furthermore, Upon shut down on my MacBook Air, there is a very quick multicolored flash around the outer edges of my screen. Any thoughts?
this computer never gets used for heavy loads, never dropped, never been exposed to high temps.

Any information would be useful.

This happened to me last night streaming video using the Brave browser. First time ever since owning this laptop. The fans were at full blast for 45 minutes, laptop was warmer than usual. After finishing the show I was watching I powered down the laptop and things seem like they're back to normal today. I think the browser got an update or two over the weekend.

It must have gotten an update. Sadly. I do like brave. They need to fix there stuff, the Brave renderer and gpu functions under activity monitor were taking up all the computers CPU.

What format are you streaming in? 4k? What resolution?

I typically use 1080, Prior to this noticed temp increase i could stream 4k no prob

Hmm, wouldn't worry about the flash either, probably just something to do with Mac OS and the Intel chip. In my experience Intel graphics can be finicky. As to the temps, what's your room temp?

Any surface. Cold table, sitting on my knee. you name it. It gets hot now. Never used to be a problem

Did you check system processes while this is happening? Post a photo of your system processes during high temps please.

Or, open a terminal and type "top" hit enter, post printout here please.

This is while playing a 1080p video on youtube

General question---why stream at 4K if the display won't show it? Aren't you just wasting bandwith and overtaxing your machine by doing that?

I dont do it with an frequency, just stating that it can do with no issues

still the same
