Compared to a retina screen they are the same.

They are both low resolution, and any minor colour improvement the Samsung screen has over LG is still far from what you get with the retina screen. No manufacturer will ever release a product that has visible improvements without increasing the price, so any difference will be small.

I have both a mid-2013 MBA and late 2013 rMPB.

No question that the retina screen is better but, with some adjustments, the MBA screen is perfectly usable.
