also, no apple remote included in the box according to tech specs. but there seems to be an IR port. interesting.

Just realized something, um...interesting:

Your MacBook Air comes standard with a Parallel ATA (PATA) 4200-rpm hard drive. Or you can choose a solid-state drive that delivers faster performance and greater durability.

Ok Apple......****ING PATA? What is this, 2006? Is there any justification for this? I get that 4200RPM wouldn't even make use of SATA's speeds, but this seems like an extremely strange thing to backtrack on.

Well it's a 1.8" drive, most likely the same being used in current iPods…maybe PATA is the only kind available?

Yeah, that's probably true.

Edit: So what happens in the event that your OSX install gets totally hosed somehow and you don't have the external drive? Would it be likely that the drive sharing feature is also in the firmware?

They announced a software solution that will allow sharing a optical drive on another Mac - presumably something like target disk mode over USB

simply not worht the money. with a few hundered more u can get a mbp or spend less and still get an awesome macbook

Apple remote is an option at $20. $20 seems to be the currency equivalent of "go **** yourself" at this point. 🙁
That seems to be on the money.
It's weird that this machine has an IR port but no remote. The Apple remote must cost virutally nothing to manufacture. Why is it missing?
