    hi,
my macbook can see that my wireless network is available but then whenever I select it I'm told that there was a problem connecting to it. could this be a problem with my macbook, or just a setting on my router?

I'd guess at a router setting.

Is your network secured? Could you have keyed the wrong password or something?

no it's unsecured with no password. the weird thing is that it has worked before with exactly the same settings then it won't. i really can't work out what could be wrong. do you think that maybe I should call apple?

Can other computers connect to it? What brand router is it? Can you reset the router by unplugging it from the power for a minute or so?

it is a dlink router. my powermac is connected to it via an ethernet cable and there is a windows pc connected to it with the wireless USB dongle that came with the router.
i did unplug it yesterday but it didn't seem to work. although i've done this on other occassions and the macbook could connect wirelessly.

I am having the same problem. My Mac Pro connects instantly to my open network, but my Macbook which is right next to my Mac Pro will not connect.

It has connected in the past, but never when the network was secured.

Hmm my Windows XP partition still connects fine to the wireless network.
