I deleted my applications folder on accident by actually pulling it out of the dock and then it disappeared, I knew that would happen but I didn't mean to do so. I tried getting it back by finder and I did, although it's not exactly the same folder with the icon and such, and there is now a folder on my desktop thats kinda annoying. Can anyone help me get the original applications folder with the a icon on it...por favor!

-i have the macbook, and i've only had it for a month and it's my first mac so bare with me if this is a stupid question

The Dock is a place where you put aliases/links to documents and applications.
There reside no actual apps and docs.

When in Finder go to the Macintosh HD (CMD+SHIFT+A, then CMD+ArrowUp), drag the Applications folder to the Dock.

There you can right click on the applications folder icon to set your preferences.

Most likely "Display as" is set to "folder" instead of "stack".

And what folder do you have on your desktop? Name, contents, size?
