Hi,

I have an old white C2D macbook that I got back in '07 from Apple UK. Currently have it running Snow Leopard all up to date etc.

Recently I have experienced random shutdowns when running from battery power, like at 60%, no where near low power really.

I tried recalibrating the battery, and resetting the PRAM like it says on one of the Apple support pages, but the problem still persists :(

It is fine when run off AC mains power, so this leads me to deduce that the battery is FUBAR.

I'm pretty sure I'm now out of Apple warranty, so what can I do? (apart from buying a new battery from ebay etc)

Please help!

Thankyou

Thought so :(

Just wondering if anyone had any methods that might revive the cells (like warming them up etc.)

Never mind...

If you got 3 years out of a 2007 battery then you got your money's worth.

I go through 1 a year. They're only rated for about 300 cycles.

$50-$60 on ebay (original Apple)

can I trust ebay to buy a decent battery?

I will have to replace a bulging pregnant battery on my 2008 white 13" MacBook - there are still lots of cycles left, as I generally use it more with wall power than battery, even after all these years. Looks like $129 from Apple Store. I am looking for a bargain. Any opinions about trusting ebay when battery shopping?

I wouldn't trust or recommend any non-Apple battery, due to the number of problems reported with "knockoff" batteries. Also, there is no assurance that knockoff batteries have the same charging technology that Apple uses, involving the battery, the MagSafe adapter and the Mac's logic board.

Did you buy an Apple battery, or a knockoff?
