Hi

I'll be in USA (Huston and San Francisco) just for 18 on each city before my flight takes me to another country. I'm looking for replacing my Macbook 2016 board since I split coffee on it so keyboard and battery have to be replaced.

Do you know if it is possible to get it replaced in a few hours only? I'm mot quite sure if it has to be made by a robot or by a person.

I think it is unlikely. Maybe if you have an existing relationship with an Apple Authorized Service Provider you can contact them in advance where they will order the board for you so that it is in stock when you arrive and they begin on it immediately...but again that seems unlikely.

For sure, this is not possible at a bricks-and-mortar Apple Store's Genius Bar. They send out hardware repairs to the regional repair center (which would have an inventory of spare parts), they don't this kind of work (logic board swaps) on premise.

If you brought it in on a Monday, it would ship out that evening, the repair would be done on Tuesday/Wednesday and then shipped back to the store. The earliest you'd have it would be Wednesday.

Unless you have a special/personal relationship with someone, I should think you would need to be prepared to be without it for 3-4 days.

Sorry guys, I meant 18 hours.

I'm sorry to hear that. I guess I'll have to buy another MacBook because I'll be without notebook during my trip.

I was hoping to have some quick replacement in San Francisco since Apple Headquarters are there but I guess not

Appointments are highly advised but not required. Each Apple Store keeps some time free for a limited number of walk-in customers.

That's pretty irrelevant to this situation since a logic board swap would require sending the unit off site.

If the OP had a software problem, it is conceivable that he could walk into an Apple Store without an appointment and get it resolved in a few hours. But that is not what this scenario is about.
