Just an interesting observation and I’m sure it’s happened before, but...

I’ve been wanting to get a 2017 MacBook to replace my 2016 MacBook but I just can’t convince myself to do it yet. I’d probably get a refurb but I have been playing with the MacBook builder the last couple of weeks and it always said it could be delivered within several days.

Now delivery is all the way out to 2/1/19.

I wonder if it’s just shortages coming down the pipe or if Apple has cut orders for parts in preparation for something new coming in a few months.

I’d mentioned in another thread that I haven’t seen MacBooks in stock at a lot of third party resellers. There’s some stock online, but not much.

I ended up buying a new 2017 i5 on clearance (old gold colour) for less than a refurbished model. Pretty happy with it!

Where did you end up purchasing on clearance? Any still available?

I got mine at Best Buy Canada. It's the mid-level i5 with a 512GB SSD in the old gold colour which was discontinued along with the rose gold when the MacBook Air was released in October with the new gold. I paid $1600CDN (~$1200USD), which is a hundred bucks less than Apple's refurb. There aren't any more, but if you're in the US, Fry's has the base model on clearance for $900: https://www.frys.com/product/9213069?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

I don't see an increase... is it just me?

Those are the ones that are prebuilt and they are actually available in Apple Stores.

When you customize a MacBook to 16GB and 512GB, the build/ship time has jumped drastically from when I checked earlier this month.

How is battery life for your Macbook Pro? Can you get 10h out of it?
