MacBook Buying Advice/Applecare Question

Hi all-

I'm considering buying one of the new MacBooks, but I have a few questions:

1) I want to buy from Amazon for the 3% back, etc- how long does it usually take for them to post new MacBook models? (I figure no one knows, but thought I'd check to see if anyone remembers how long it took them last time)

2) Does it void Applecare to swap out the HD and RAM on the MacBook? I searched the archives but there are conflicting answers.

I think it was quick last time, but rebates took a couple weeks to be offered.
