Hi all,

Having an issue with my M1 MacBook.

The caps lock light seems to be on all the time faintly - even when Caps Lock is off.

The button works fine, and becomes visibly brighter when caps lock is actually turned on - but when it’s off, it’s always on faintly.

I’ve uploaded a video here

Many thanks

Tom

maybe the backlight?

what flavor of the m1 MacBook is that?
looks like the indicator for caps lock is actually on is when the symbol with the ^ lights up green.

It's definitely a 13" M1 MBP. Normal behavior is for the caps lock indicator to appear white when caps lock is off. When the back light is on, it is still white. It is only green when caps lock is on.

The only things that occur to me are that someone has colored it green with a pen/marker, or that there is a short, most likely from liquid damage, that is allowing the green LED to still receive some power at all times.

If the machine is still under warranty, have Apple take a look. If not, call, explain the problem, and see if they may be willing to offer a little help, as the earliest machines should be just outside of their initial warranty window.

My 13” M1 MBP doesn’t have the backlit caps lock symbol in the key, just the white/green light. It’s a different MBP. after a closer look, that appears to be a UK keyboard.
