Hi all,

I have a WhiteBook that about 7 months old and has a problem charging. It usually charges fine but every now and then it won't charge. I tried different outlets but it still won't charge. It is actually doing this now on 2% battery so excuse me if this is worded in a not so clear fashion as I'm racing against the battery to post this.

I've had this problem happen about 6 times before and each time is the same. No lights on the Magsafe, no charging symbol on the screen, nothing. I've taken into the Apple store to get "It's Fine" and even "You aren't plugging it in the right way" (Gee, how can you plug it in wrong?). Also, if I let it sit for around an hour after I first tried to plug it in, it is fine and charges right up. Does anyone have any tips or solutions and has anyone had this happen to them?

Thank you.

Diode and Finlandboy thank you for the replies.

Diode,
There is nothing on the Magsafe itself but the plug on the computer has some dirt on the gray area around the 5 prongs. I've tried to clean this off but nothing I have tried can get in there to clean it out so the dirt remains.

Finlandboy,
I thought it was the charger as well. I plugged it in one time and nothing so I drove right over to my local Apple store (no appointment or anything as I wanted them to see this as it was happening). Once I got there one of the guys there plugged it in and on it went. That is when I got the "Nothings wrong except you are plugging it in wrong." I was told when plugging in, put the Magsafe in first then the wall plug and when unplugging it pull out the wall plug first than the Magsafe or something to that extent. That sounded a little off to me though I may be wrong.

Thanks again for the help.

I had a similar problem with my 3rd gen Blackbook. The MagSafe would only charge intermittently and the LED would not turn on sometimes. I took it into the Store and they looked at it and immediately replaced it; even though it was out of warranty. I'm rather careful about AC adapters as my old iBook's adapter caught fire during one of my powerpoint presentations due to some fraying. I didn't want to take any chances. (I took this adapter in as well today, and they replaced it.)

Overall I'm quite satisfied with Apple's customer service. :)
