Does anyone notice that their command keys are not as bright as other keys? Aren't these supposed to be individually lit?

You complained about a 1mm gap at ur screen and now u say ur light is not as bright? Seriously? You need to see a doctor....

How dare he expect a product manufactured to proper specs! Off with his head. LOL

Turn off your lights guys and put keyboard backlight on. You're telling me that every key is evenly lit and equally as bright?? Aren't their supposed to be a led under each key?

Looks fine to me. What exactly am I looking for?

Read the article.. You're clearly not looking at your command keys with backlight on.

Since the LED is in the middle, and the command text is off center, it is logical (and acceptable) in my mind that those keys won't be as bright.

It doesn't bother me. Judging by the responses so far, it doesn't bother others as well. Good news is that Apple has an excellent return policy. You can always try your luck with Gen2, whenever that comes out.

I don't have a problem, I just want to make sure mine is not faulty.

Do you notice that the command keys are dimmer in dark room with backlight keys on full brightness?

Would you be able to take a picture of yours? I would really appreciate it.

Does yours look like the one in the picture (your command keys)

I will not walk into a dark room looking for a problem that doesn't exist. That's how people go crazy. I will however confirm that the command text is not as bright.

That said I don't think yours (or mine for that matter) is defective. Enjoy it or return it!

Check to see if your command keys are not as bright as your other keys. Am I right? Look in dark room with backlight on.

I don't think anyone expected that the backlighting behind each key would be 100% uniform. Since it's a single tiny LED illuminating each key, it's understandable that it would be brightest in the center, and the brightness would fall off radially from the center. For me, as long as I can tell what each key is, I'm fine with it.

agree with you. Am a bit pissed off you mentioned it. Until I read this I was marveling how good the keyboard lighting is compared to my MBA11

LEDs are underneath the center of each key, by necessity of the design (center is the only place available to locate an LED).

Thus the lighting is brightest at the center of each key - which is where the lettering is for most keys. Toward the edges, the light gets dimmer. Toward the corners, dimmer still.

But the Command key, and a few others, have the main lettering toward the edges of each key, where the light from the centered LED is dimmest. Note that the letters toward the middle of the word "Command" are slightly brighter than those at the ends, which are located in the corners of the key itself (the dimmest points).

It's not a defect. It's just the way it is given the particulars of the lighting, which is constrained by the design of the mechanisms beneath each key.

Just for discussion's sake, I wonder how impossible it would be to calibrate the dim keys to run a tad bit brighter. It's all software anyway.

I'm pretty sure that it is impossible for there to be different levels of impossibility.
