WOW, woulda look at dis. I used my Windows Traktor Studio, and with Crossover, it works on mac. The install is even faster than it is on Windows too. I loaded it up, and played a few tracks, and it works! It recognizes the audio drivers and everything, this is so cool. So I guess I could use this, but for pure up and run time, it may not be a good idea, but after a little testing over a few hours to check on dependability, I will see if it holds up, if so, I let everyone know!

Wow, so much stuff, holy cow. Ok, so I found an example of the set up I want, watch this video for about two minutes, and you see exactly wut I mean, I want full size non vinyl turntables, a lot like Stantons .

Those "non vinyl turntables" are CD decks. Pioneer CDJ-1000. You'll spend more for just one of those than you would on a pair of decent turntables. You'll still have to learn how to DJ either way.

Or you could come off like this guy, who can't even get his 2nd track started because he can't beatmatch, but he sure does a lot of posing...

Notice that he's on a BASIC, rudimentary setup there. And if he can't beatmatch just one track on two turntables and a mixer, do you think he could handle more sophisticated equipment? Trust me, Paul Van Dyk didn't start out with all that gear.

Again, I repeat, chat with some DJs. If you're serious about this, you'll have to on a regular basis anyway, so you might as well learn now, or it'll be over for you really quick. But you'll find lots of DJs willing to buy a pair of barely used CDJ-1000s.

If you're going with vinyl control, I suggest avoiding Finalscratch 2. Users have left in droves to Serato Scratch Live. Just compare their online forums. The SSL forums are full of people who USED to be on the FS2 forums, but not the other way around. I haven't even heard of a single person leaving SSL for FS2, but I personally know several who have done the opposite. I have both, and I can tell you SSL is a better product. Less features perhaps, but it's reliable and priced more fairly. It's also much easier to set up and learn.

Finalscratch hasn't had a software update in aeons, while SSL gets regular FREE updates with responsive support online. SSL is just much more stable and user-friendly. Several of the features FS2 advertises are only available if you also buy Traktor, as that's the program that actually has the features, while both programs use the same engine.

Even the DJ in the Finalscratch 2 online demo video has left for SSL. FS2 could have been really great.

Just ask a Finalscratch owner if they've had any luck selling their used unit for even a third of what they paid for it, while SSL retains a lot of its value right now because users don't WANT to part with it.

Again, chat with some DJs. See what they think of either kit.

couldn't have said it better myself, i was also one of these people. i seriously studied before i bought it and the features of final scratch seem good.....but although it has firewire (faster yes)........no, just more throughput, final scratch has a latency of 22ms (although they state different due to clever benchmarking, where have we seen that before!) wheras serato has 8ms. this is more important than any features that final scratch has. i could go on all day about the technical side but ill leave it up to you. just have a look around the scratchlive forum.

Another Internet Radio solution

I just wanted to post another internet Radio solution to go along with the others posted earlier. Backbone Radio available from Backbone Networks.

haha that's awesome, **** I've never DJ'd at all, but I can put on one record and then play with the second turn table while bobbing my head around.

Dude dont laugh, that woz our main man Rapmastac1 in da houze. :D

Well, a little update on what I've been doing with this whole thing. I've actually decided not to touch my macbook for those purposes. It is a portable machine, yes, but I use it more and more as my main computer, and I don't want to use it for that kind of stuff. So I customized my pc with a lot of stuff, including a really nice sound card capable of 5.1 output.

Using that 5.1 output, I have four stereo tracks that can play simultaniously and two monitors for those stereo tracks. I only need one monitor though, but one could be for a friend (or a third track, haha). The pc has 500 gigs which is enough for now, along with 4 gigs of ram and a nice dual core processor. The software moves along fast, I also have two dvd=rw drives that I can use to mix two cd/dvds at the same time too!

I haven't done anything for external media control yet, I got a keyboard for garageband though. I'm still looking for the perfect mixer.

Glad I got some good input!
