my macbook does not display constantly decreasing battery life, as it should. Instead it would, for example, jump between 3h50 and 3h08, and then jump back to 3h43. this even happens whem i am not running any applications.

has anyone experienced the same problem?

the macbook is brand new, i just bought it last week. i already had the battery replaced and it's still not working properly.

in order to get a decreasing battery life with a constant slope, you'd have to be doing the same thing. any changes in activity will make the battery time change.

it happens when i am not running any applications and it happens when i am running one constant application. for example, when i am on skype it also constantly changes.

Skype isn't a good example - Pages or Writeroom would be.

Skype's processes use a very wide range of processor and memory resources, so can't really be a valid tell.

A basic wordprocessor or similar would give you a more accurate idea.

it even happens when i'm not running any applications. and that, to my knowledge, is constant activity.

At what rate do these jumps occur when you're not running any apps? Also does it continually fluctuate or does it settle down?

it happens every 30 seconds or so, and it doesn't settle down. it keeps going like this.

Afraid can't be much help and don't know what to suggest. Although I've heard (and seen) something similar, it's always settle down after a couple of minutes of so.

i'll wait and see what happens. maybe it's just a temporary thing. thanks anyways.
