Just as the title says, my 2009-era MB wakes up when the charger is plugged in, and stays awake as long as it is plugged. Any explanation for this undesirable behavior?

    - What happens when you click Apple icon on the menu bar -> Sleep while it's plugged in?

    - Have you done an SMC reset? this usually fixes power/sleep/wake issues.

    - What are your energy saver settings in System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> Power Adapter?

Well I haven't tried the first one, as I refer to charging with lid closed.

The SMC was reset three days ago when I couldn't get a PowerBook G4 to be seen in target mode.

As for the settings, all three checkboxes are unchecked, computer is set not to sleep at all when plugged in, and the screen turns off after 10 minutes. Of course the expected behavior is that a closed lid will override any other setting.

Oh well you missed out the most important information(not going to sleep when lid's closed) else I would have provided different steps.

Still I would try to go to sleep by the apple menu and close the lid to see what happens.

It doesn't seem to be sleeping. Screen goes black, but white light is constantly on and not pulsating as it should.
