My white macbook (circa 2006) is not recognizing commerical, store bought DVD movies, other DVDs (instructional DVD from Digidesign). It loads and recognizes audio cds just fine. I just sent it off for repair due to bad logic board/battery, but the DVD drive was working fine before. I even loaded Pro Tools software back onto the computer since getting it back from repair with no problem. But today, my DVDs arent recognized????????

DVDs will LOAD, but will not play in the DVD Player and will not show up on the desktop (as an icon). Any thoughts are appreciated.

You could try using a cd/dvd cleaner in the dvd drive and see if your dvd drive has a dirty laser eye in it.
