Macbook External screen

Im purchasing a macbook very soon and firstly, are all monitors (not apple make), compatible with the macbook if I purchase the correct VGA/DVI adapter.

Also I am looking for a good monitor which is around 20 inch. I have been looking at dells/hps and looking around the price range of 150-200 pounds. Could anyone suggest a good link 🙂

Monitors are monitors, for the most part. Any VGA or DVI will work wonderfully. I've got a 19" Samsung VESA-mounted. I started off with VGA, then switched to DVI (dual inputs). The monitor ran about $200 USD.
