MacBook Firmware update

This might sound a silly question but how would I know if my White MacBook 6.1 needs a firmware update😱?

I have no "update icons" or "badge notifications" that I'm aware of and nothing else is telling me that I do so is it safe to assume I don't need it?

Just run Software Update from the Apple menu at the top left and if there is a firmware update available it will tell you.
