okay so i recently got a macbook about a week ago and i am satisfied with it very much. I went to best buy today and played with the macbook air. My thoughts were, I like the multi touch pad a lot. And the screen kills the screen on my macbook. The screen is very important to me. Now I am very basic on the mac, I surf the web, listen to music. Download music and play with pics etc etc just basic stuff. If i go to best buy tomorrow and exchange for an air will i notice much of a difference in speed in anything?

what will i be missing out on or will i even be missing out on anything?

There will be a slight difference with using a lot of application. The only thing you will notice is if one of the cores shut down. I'm not sure if they have fixed that problem.

You'll love it. If the size is appealing to you, go exchange.

    yep

You might miss a firewire port every so often, but for your use, the MBA is perfect.

ya I am still debating on if I want to do. there is a 500 dollar difference pretty much just for something skinnier that wont make much of a difference to me besides some weight. And a LED screen and a multi touch pad, thats what I would like but I dont know if it is worth that much more money ya know

I would say get it exchanged!! :D

I think the multi-touch trackpad as well as the oo's and ahhh's from everyone is well worth the extra 500 dollars.

exchange it! the macbook air is so lightweight that it might change the way you use computer. with macbook maybe u just lazy to bring it everywhere cause by the weight burden.

But with MBA, you just want to take it everywhere you go..

I was in the same boat a while ago. In the end I kept my MB. I used the $500 for other things. I love the MB; it does what I want, and works well.

    Get the Air

I got my macbook late last year and the Air about 2 months ago. After 3 weeks of use, I decided to let my macbook go. The screen is much nicer and the multi-touch pad is really cool. I like to carry this Air w/ me all the time b/c it doesn't add much weights to my backpack.

I think for $500 more, you should get the Air now. Your macbook will look really old if Apple puts out a new macbook w/ the re-design case.

ya that is true, very true. But performance wise for running safari and like 10 tabs at the same time with music playing or videos and working on smaller documents, will I notice any kind of lag or anythin?

The screen is improved, and the multi-touch is nice.

But are those features REALLY worth the significant processor cut, storage cut, and significant price difference?

The Air's price can ONLY be justified by people who travel a lot. Plain and simple. There's no way to justify it (other than that), if that's what your looking for here.

The Air is nice, though. But is it worth all the drawbacks, is the question.

Weight burden? It's 5 lbs! That's far from a burden.

ya i get exactly what you mean. I dont travel much with the mac I usually just use it at home unless I go to a friends house or something and bring my macbook and my airport express, hook it up and go. I am thinkin of keeping my macbook its no biggie.

I supposed I can deal with this screen its not too bad if I tilt it all the way up but then the colors seem more faded in my opinion.

I wish the MBP wasnt so expensive but for the work people do on them i am sure it is well worth it.

Btw, I'm in the same boat as you: I want a whole lot more than I SHOULD get :D Especially that multi-touch trackpad.

I'm really, really hoping they include it next month in a MacBook update. Because I'm right on the verge of buying a Mac notebook. I run pro apps for work and school, but don't think the MBP is justified yet. The MacBook runs Final Cut Studio just fine, as well as Adobe After Effects CS3, so it should be good enough. I just want that multi-touch so bad!!

I hate learning to be efficient with money. It kills me.

Already know what your talking about. thing with me is I love the look of the current macbook. The glossy white exterior and interior gets me everytime. I just wish I had an LED disply, the multi touchpad would also be a bonus but not a huge deal to me since I do not even use that now......well cuz i dont have it hehe

That's why I'm dying to get to this September update. I just want to know if they're getting these features! If so, I'm ordering it the first day. I've been saving the money, and I'm ready to get my first Mac laptop.
