Has anybody purchased a new macbook or other apple hardware from an ebay seller? It seems as though there are decent deals to be had with the live.com rebates, but I'm skeptical about the purchase - which I know means that I shouldn't. But, any horror stories? Is it really as advertised? Is it eligible for AppleCare?

This doesn't answer your question directly, but I have purchased Applecare for both my iPod touch and Macbook. I also bought MobileMe on ebay. I got the iPod touch Applecare for $15 and the Applecare for the Macbook for $110. I bought MobileMe for $34.

I always look at the customer comments on that person and go from there. I don't know if I would buy a Macbook on ebay though.

I'm in the same boat as you. I placed a few bids, never won. On the other some sellers have up the prices because of the Live rebate. So I would spend money on a refurb instead of an 'unkown'. Just deal with a powerseller who only sell Macs.
