Hey everyone,

I've got a black MacBook. Had a few problems the other night and upon turning the system on I was greeted with a no entry sign. I had a look on Apple's website, tried a PRAM reset but didn't help. In the end I re-installed OSX to see if that cured the problem.

I can now use my MacBook but it is seriously slow. Spotlight says it will take over 100, 000 hours to index the system on a fresh install so I have a feeling something may be wrong with the hard drive.

Is there anything else I can try or shall I just install a new hard drive and do a fresh install?

Do you have access to another 2.5" hard drive. It sounds like it might be on its last legs.

I don't but I can get one in the next couple of days. I take it I would just need a 2.5" SATA hard drive, may as well increase size whilst I'm at it.

Any recommendations?
