Okay, here's the deal. I need a new notebook, and I'm pretty set on the MB. It'll be for both work and play. I'm an IT Guy, so it'll be used for connecting to systems, switches, routers, blah blah...

Checked the refurb, and they have a base MB/2.0 for $849, a White 2.2/$999, and a black MB 2.4/$1299.

I realize the black is the best one, but based on my needs, what will give me the best bang for the buck???

the middle white MacBook would be the best bang for buck as the Black MacBook is just more expensive than the white with similar specs. but as your buying a refurb your locked into the specs.

just be aware that the cheapest MacBook only has a combo drive i.e. CD read/write & DVD read only.

Thanks...that's what I was thinking too. They had a white 2.4/2GB/160 over the weekend, but it was 1099.

The 2.2 seems okay, and there's enough space on the 120 to add XP via Parallels or Fusion if I really need it...

Thanks!

Well I did it! Just ordered the 2.2/1GB/120 for $999. It's better than any XP laptop out there, and I can use Fusion to run XP if I really need it...
