So my MB decided it didn't like me anymore and before sending it in for repairs, i need to access/move some files off the internal HD, I have it already hooked up to an enclosure, and I can see it in Linux, however, I cannot access the contents of my home dir which has all my stuff, no permission to access it.

Is there a way I can get this stuff from linux(even windows)? my only other option it to dd the disk and erase it completely before sending it in.

If you had another mac, you could boot up using the drive on a working mac. Connect using a firewire cable and hold down option when you start up.

When I upgraded my HD, I just put the old one (which refused to boot) into a HD case and all of it was accessible on both Windows and Mac.
