Hi all,

I have been facing some freezing problems with my black macbook from 2007 (I know it is old, but it was working perfectly).

The issues are the following:
- Safari, Skype and Mail apps keep on crashing. I open Activity monitor and it says (Not Responding). This happens several times, I am actually obliged to force close and restart them again.

- I keep on hearing single clack sounds from the speakers similar to squealing. I am not playing any audio so its a bit weird. Sometimes I notice that my sound symbol on the top bar is dimmed away which makes it to be disable...

Anyone can help me out? Can it be the disk that is damaged?

Cheers,
F

Repair disk permissions - Open Disk Utility (Applications>Utilities), select your hard drive and click Repair Disk Permissions.

I did all that... I even reset the SMC. The issues continue to happen!

Do you guys think the disk is dying ?
