I have a friend (psychofreak) with the lower end one and I recently got the higher end one (with 320 HD and 4GB RAM) and the backlight is so worth it. If you're spending this much anyway on getting a mac over something else, it's worth splurging a little to get the backlight and 300mhz of extra power.

I've owned 2 air's, I have a MacBook Pro, a BlackBook and now the Alu MacBook and I can tell you first hand that the MacBook screen is not bad at all. It blows the BlackBook's screen out of the water, it obviously can't mess with the MacBook Air because that thing is seriously perfect. The MBP classic has a really good screen but you obviously pay for it. The new MBP has a better screen than the MB but not by miles, the glass is still an issue.

If this is your first computer, you're about to have your world rocked. I got the 2.4GHZ Alu MacBook brand new for $1250 yesterday, but I was ready to pay $1600, It's seriously a lot of computer, and for the size it really is like a mini MBP. It's worth every penny.

$1250? Was that online?

I have always owned powerbooks and macbook pros for this one reason alone now that the macbooks are aluminum and have backlit keyboards I had no reason to not get one. So I did and I love it.

where did you get a brand new one for $1250. i'm in the market and would LOVE that price :)

Not worth it for me. I touch type and don't need the illuminated keys. Most of my external keyboards are legend-less...keeps people from touching my 'boards and does not hamper the functionality for me.

I was going to get the 2.0 after the referbs hit the apple store but believe it or not I got the 2.4 off Craigs list for 1150.00 new in box with receipt, the guy got in a car crash and needed the money for the dectuable on his insurance, the mac was a gift for his girlfriend for Christmas. I kind of felt bad for a few days, buy If I had not taken it someone would have. But now that I have the lighted keyboard I would spend the extra money and get it. I think its worth the extra money but that's my opinion. I can't type worth a crap so the lighted keys are great for me, the wife and I sit in the dark most nights and watch tv.
