Dear Guys, I've just found that my MacBook (C2D, Late 2006) hard drive is dead (no spin-up). My MacBook is covered my AppleCare: I've contacted Apple and they agree that the HD must be replace. But, due to Holidays they won't be able to repair it until mid-january 2008. Since I use my MacBook an cannot wait that long the question is: can I buy a SATA hard drive from any pc-reseller and replace it by my own or there are some firmware hacks that prevent me from installing a non-Apple-certified hd? Best regards Alessandro
Hello! You can buy your own drive. Provided it's of the correct technical specifications you'll be fine.
